Master in Global & Regional Studies



The Master's Program in Global and Regional Studies is an academic master degree devoted to decision-makers and researchers in the field of international relations, global governance studies and comparative regionalism, as well as area studies.

The program pursues the systematic training of researchers, teachers and decision makers with competencies to develop and / or use research in a key field of studies regarding international insertion of Uruguay, the MERCOSUR countries and Latin America and the Caribbean within the global cheeseboard.

It is an interdisciplinary Master's Degree that involves social and political sciences, international studies, regionalism, intercultural and area studies, among other relevant perspectives to understand the new global society, its governance, its sustainability, its risks, Its ethical dilemmas and its economic and social processes.

The Course is developed over two years, through three intensive face-to-face phases and the development of research tasks.

It consists of 510 hours - that is, 34 credits of 15 hours.

It also involves the elaboration and public defense of a Masters Thesis.


Objectives of the Master:


To offer to graduates participants with key competences for the development of global perspectives and with central tools to develop autonomous research.

To offer a Master's degree in the interdisciplinary field of global and interregional studies, taking into account the perspective of the Global South

Strengthening the capacities of the participants, such as analysts, advisers, researchers and policy makers

Organization in Content Modules:


The curriculum is made up of ten curricular units and the public defense of the thesis.

It is composed exclusively of academic doctors with research activity and vast experience in postgraduate teaching and in the training of researchers.

Organization and course.


The Master has two possible formats:

A) Intensive phases (for students from abroad): fifteen days from Monday to Saturday;

B) On Fridays and Saturdays, on biweekly frequencies - for students residing in Montevideo or the Uruguayan countryside.
